If one thing is certain, Montreal has no shortage of talent when it comes to musicians. Case in point: Paul Jacobs. The drummer for indie-rockers Pottery and Sounds From Mothland designer is set to drop a new album, and we can’t get enough of the first single, Half Rich Loner.

📹 La Femme – “Foutre le Bordel”

If you’re not familiar with Parisian psych-pop outfit La Femme, you should be. After releasing three stellar songs in 2020, the band is back with a new single. Foutre le Bordel is a real upbeat number that hits in all the right places.

“‘Foutre le Bordel’ is the first fully animated video we’ve created,” says La Femme of the new single. “We have always been attracted by graphic arts. Originally we wanted to join art schools but none of them accepted us! Over the years, we have drawn lots of our visuals: artworks, t shirts, clothes, fonts, … The Paradigmes font of our next album is one of our drawings too, by the way. Last spring, during the first general lockdown, we thought it would be the best moment to start this animated drawings project, as we had so much free time in front of us. We think it reflects well the image of La Femme and we are happy we finally managed to do it with this particular fast and nervous track, which is made to revitalize a party at any moment! The kind of song that we look forward to playing on stage…! “

Check out the video in the embed, and hit up their socials for more going forward. The new album Paradigmes drops April 2nd via the band’s very own record label, Disque Pointu.

📹 Mother Tongues – ‘Let You Down’

If one thing is certain, Toronto psych-pop outfit Mother Tongues are one hell of a creative bunch. The band dropped the stellar Everything You Wanted EP on Buzz Records back in late July, and now they’re back with a groovy (and often strange) video for one of our favourite record cuts, Let You Down … produced and directed by the one and only Boy Wonder.

Check it out in the embed and hit up their links below for more going forward. If 2021 is not the year for this group, something is definitely wrong with the world.

🎧 The Crowleys – ‘Making Friendly’

We’ve always been big fans of Hamilton psych-pop outfit The Crowleys. Just today, we came across their latest single, Making Friendly, and we couldn’t wait to share it with you. It’s a melodic, upbeat number that will likely be on repeat for a while at The iM.

“‘Making Friendly’, simply put is about making friends. A process that can be full of uncertainty, vulnerability, and excitement. Making honest connections can be maze-like. How do you know if someone will accept you? Which version of yourself should you put forward? How do we know which cues to follow and which to let go?”

Have a listen in the embed, and hit up their socials to show your support below. Not sure about you, but we can’t wait to hear more from this bunch.

We’ve already heard the first single, Technicolor Town, and now it’s time to share their latest song.
