If you’re not familiar with experimental-pop artist Spencer Cole, this is your lucky day. Having been involved with local indie-rockers Weaves, he’s no stranger to the Toronto music scene. Back in 2019, he released the Eat Dirt EP on the masses, now he’s back with a new album announcement.

That said, we couldn’t be more excited to be premiering the first single off the record, Child. The video for the song features animation by Sonia Beckwith Cole, including some beautifully incorporated artwork from Spencer’s childhood.

“When conceiving this song I was overtaken with vivid memories of early existence. Those first discoveries of nature and the concept of time, how to navigate them, and trying to figure out where I fit within them. It is about accepting that I am still that same naive person who understands only a fraction of the universe.”
