In mid-November, Toronto singer-songwriter Gillian Stone will release her latest EP, Spirit Photographs. Following singles Amends and Raven’s Song, the multi-instrumentalist recently shared a third and final song before the release, The Throne.
Speaking on the new album, Stone had this to say: “Spirit Photographs is a post-rock/drone folk concept album about grief. Each of the five songs represents one of Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’ stages: denial (“June”), anger (“Amends”), bargaining (“Raven’s Song”), depression (“Solitude”, a Black Sabbath cover from the seminal Master of Reality), and acceptance (“The Throne”). Through this model, I explore processing the personal turmoil of my mental health disability in an era of collective trauma.”
Watch the video for The Throne in the embed below, and keep it locked to her socials leading up to the album release. Spirit Photographs is out November 18th, followed by a release show on December 16th at the Tranzac Club with Picastro and Funeral Lakes.
