We last told you about Toronto singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gillian Stone when she released her stellar Shelf single back in April of last year.
Recently, the Toronto-based musician returned with a new single called Amends, and we can’t get enough of this thing. The song was co-produced with experimental e-cellist and multi-instrumentalist Michael Peter Olsen (Zoon, The Hidden Cameras, Arcade Fire) and features drums played by Spencer Cole of Weaves.
Speaking on the new song: “Amends is a vocally-driven post-rock/drone folk song that explores self-mercy and accountability after an era of Anger, the second stage of grief. It is a nod to what I’ve learned through years of therapy about the power of naming. It is a fearless moral inventory, an understanding of the effect on self and others, an odyssey through four and five of The Twelve Steps. By acknowledging the ruins of my Anger, I am attempting to destroy the destroyer.”
Watch the video for Amends in the embed below, and be sure to keep it locked to her socials going forward. Hopefully, for us, more music is on the way this year.
