In June of 2022, Toronto singer-songwriter Ken Yates released his fourth studio album Cerulean via Soundly Music. Recently he returned with Fairweather, the first song off the Cerulean B-sides released this year. Now he’s back with a second single called Ordinary Life which was produced by Dan Ledwell and features vocal harmony from Rose Cousins.
Speaking on the new song, Yates had this to say: “I wrote this song about searching for joy in the mundane. I know a lot of us had to adjust to a different pace of life over the last few years. When I stopped the forward motion of constantly being on the road, I found it jarring at first. I think without that forward motion I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere, but after some time sitting in it, I learned it was the opposite. A lot of the things I was busying myself with were simply a distraction from doing the work to figure out what I wanted out of life.”
Listen to Ordinary Life in the embed below, and keep it locked to his socials going forward. Hopefully, more music is on the way this year.
