If you’re not familiar with the sounds of Orangeville-based musician Andrew McArthur, today is your lucky day. Back in 2019, he released his debut album Warez on the masses. Now, the singer-songwriter is back with the first single off his upcoming EP, and we couldn’t be more stoked to be premiering the video to go along with it today.
Andrew has been in and around the Toronto music scene for quite a few years now, with a handful of collaborations, a solo album, and time as a bassist, drummer, and guitarist for multiple touring bands under his belt. Most recently he served as a producer and musician on Falcon Janeโs critically-acclaimed 2020 album Faith alongside his mainstay, confidant, and artistic muse Sara May.
Taken as a whole, the new EP Brush represents coming into his own as a solo artist and producer, with a big-hearted and charming aesthetic. His willingness to ask questions earnestly feels like an invitation to connect, to build a sense of community. After the last year, we can all agree itโs a good time for that, even if he doesnโt have all the answers.
As for the new visuals, Andrew asked friends and family to paint over various photos of him to create a collage/stop motion video as a way to stay connected to his community during quarantine.
Watch Question in the embed below, and be sure to hit up his socials. The new EP is out on July 9th, so stay tuned. This is one artist you don’t want to sleep on.
