Way back when we first started making mixtapes for The iM, you would often find something from Bavarian indie-electronic pioneers The Notwist. Luckily for us, the band continues to make music but today we take a trip down memory lane with one of our favourite album cuts from their exceptional 2002 long-player, Neon Golden.

Low Float is the moniker of Kitchener singer/songwriter and musician, Gabriel O’Brien-Szczesniak. Just yesterday he dropped a brand new song on the masses and we want you to know all about it. The opening bass-line sets the tone for this groovy number that’s been on repeat all afternoon here at The iM. Now, it’s time for you to take a listen.
“When I finished recording “Here Before,” it didn’t sound super complete, so I had JEEN sing backups on it. The lyric, we were here before, was her idea, and I’m pretty sure that in the grand scheme of things, she’s right.“

Right around the time we curated this mixtape, we had just started our weekly radio show on the University of Toronto’s Fusion Radio. These songs define an incredible time for indie music and for The iM.
We recently came across the new song (and video) from Toronto singer/songwriter Luka Kuplowsky and we can’t seem to get enough of it here at The iM. The track will be included on his upcoming long-player, due for release on September 2nd via Mama Bird. Now, it’s time to share it with you.
Check out Positive Push in the embed below and be sure to hit up his socials for more leading up to the release. And, while you’re at it, take a listen to the first single off the album, here.
